P5 Studio and Frag present AR_T, a collab project with Architology, Atelier Ikebuchi, Studio IF, Produce + Superstructure, Studio Wills + architects, Super Fat Designs, Parenthesis Studio and Right Angle Studio.
September 20th, 2019
P5 Studio is at it again! Following up its successful collaboration with Danish brand Montana Furniture and eight local design practices last year, the boutique furniture retailer has partnered with Italian brand and leading leather expert Frag for AR_T.
AR_T (pronounced ‘art’) has invited eight local architecture and design practices to reinvent the Ele side chair, one of Frag’s signature chairs, into an object that exists in the realm between art and design. Designed by Michele di Fonzo, Ele features a sinuous silhouette and is upholstered completely with saddle leather.
Saddle leather is arguably the most durable type of leather which requires considerable skill to craft into furniture. The versions of Ele created by the eight practices will be the embodiment of what heritage and craftsmanship mean to them.
P5 Studio and Frag will unveil the eight objects next week on 26 September 2019. And we’ve got a sneak peek:
After the unveiling at P5 Studio next week, all the eight AR_T pieces will be displayed at P5 Studio’s booth at Saturday Indesign on 12 October!
