This significant integration is commemorated with the opening of Henning Larsen’s new Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore
May 31st, 2023
Global architecture firm Henning Larsen opened its new Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore and joined forces with landscape architecture firm Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl Singapore, marking a new focus on nature in balance with urban development. This comes on the heels of the global integration which began in 2022 and is completed with Singapore joining the Henning Larsen brand.
To mark this milestone, Henning Larsen welcomed industry professionals on 29 May to its new, three-and-a-half storey studio located on Amoy Street. Coinciding with the ULI Asia-Pacific Summit, the event celebrated the region’s commitment to creating a better built environment. Panel discussions were held, featuring experts from various disciplines, who explored how transformation can lead to decarbonisation and the development of a sustainable and inclusive community in Singapore.
Jacob Kurek, Global Design Director at Henning Larsen, expressed his excitement about the opportunities Singapore and the wider region offer for innovative and context-driven regenerative architecture. He emphasised the importance of tailoring designs to meet the specific needs and aspirations of each community and client.
The practice has a strong track record in creating harmonious spaces that blend the built and natural environment. Its portfolio includes the French International School in Hong Kong, a multicultural learning space surrounded by lush greenery, and the Cockle Bay Park waterfront transformation project in central Sydney, which provides extensive public space. The company was also recently selected as part of the winning consortium to revitalise the Canberra Theatre Centre, contributing to the development of an internationally recognised arts precinct in Australia’s capital.
In Singapore, Henning Larsen has been involved in critically acclaimed projects such as Jurong Lake Garden and Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park & Kallang River, which reflect the shared values of the team. Its commitment to sustainable design was recognised with the Singapore Good Design (SG Mark) award in the Sustainable Design category for Rifle Range Nature Park, which incorporates habitat creation, water-sensitive urban design, fauna protection, and heritage conservation.
Leonard Ng, Country Market Director of Henning Larsen, Asia Pacific, described the opening of the new headquarters as an exciting and historic moment for the firm in Singapore. The expanded capabilities, combined with the expertise of their global design network, empower Henning Larsen to deliver exceptional solutions to clients across the region.
To foster dialogue and strengthen networks in Singapore and the surrounding area, Henning Larsen plans to host regular discussions on relevant topics that impact the built environment. This commitment to engagement reflects the practice’s dedication to shaping a sustainable and prosperous future through design.
