#SGID17: Meet Luxxbox and the Thinklab

Design is simply amazing because it intrigues the mind and the human senses; it makes even the brightest creative ask him- or herself “why didn’t I think of that?” and, most importantly, it can solve even the most complex of problems.

An advocate of design as a modern-day problem solver is Luxxbox, the Australia- and US-based brand that was meteorically elevated to fame in 2006 when it launched the durable and colourful, lolly-inspired Tingle stool. Founded by Brisbane designer Jason Bird, Luxxbox’s furniture gets extra points for good looks. Some of Bird’s most notable projects include a custom table series for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi movie Prometheus and extensive work for Google Inc.

Just last year, in a bid to help people collaborate more effectively amid the bustle of the contemporary open-plan workplace, Luxxbox took things one-step further by debuting an innovative range of highly agile furniture, lighting and systems aptly named ThinkLab. Among the most impressive products in that range is a clever edit of acoustic pendantsspatial screens and even “pods”, which are developed using specific materials such as felt to absorb and reduce noise. And because they are so design-focused, they don’t look out of place.

In three weeks time at Singapore Indesign, Luxxbox will launch a new product for that category. Named ThoughtWalls, the flexible whiteboard system – true to the brand’s DNA – is lightweight and agile, and can be combined with sound-absorbing panels to double as spatial dividers or create intimate hives.

Be the first to see and feel the Luxxbox ThoughtWalls and many more amazing products at #SGID17 on 7 October. Register, here, if you haven’t.
