With the pandemic pushing forth hybrid working modes, the new CPG office is a working environment centred on forging interactions between employees and wellness at work.

The pandemic has changed the way we work, and think about work. Companies can better retain talents by supporting work-life harmony and remaining open to hybrid working models. With the Ministry of Manpower encouraging flexible work arrangements if it is suitable for a sector, how will the function of the office space change?
Addressing that point, the new office for the CPG group (CPG Facilities Management, CPG Construction Professionals and PM Link) was designed to connect colleagues who no longer see one another daily. There is also a focus on wellness at work with a calming palette comprising warm timber tones and neutral shades of beige, warm grey and white, making it an enticing workplace. “We want to create an office that people want to return to because a happy employee is a productive employee,” said Alan Goh, Chief Executive Officer of CPG FM, of the new office.
Designed in-house by VIA+ Design Studio, the interior design arm of CPG, the new 10,000 square feet office located at 1 North Coast caters for various working styles with open, semi-private and private spaces. “The recent pandemic has accelerated and changed workplace trends. Now is the time to ensure that we create work environments that accommodate these dynamic shifts and boost employee well-being and engagement,” said Goh.
Upon stepping into the office, a vertical green wall greets the staff. The biophilic design connects employees to nature and doubles as signage with the company logo, reinforcing its commitment to wellness. It backdrops the ‘Collab Area’, a spacious zone created for teamwork and group discussions. Communal tables and long benches are scattered throughout, which the staff can also utilise for hot desking.
The casual social space can also be used to host clients—taking the mindset out of stiff boardrooms, making it more open to exchange ideas candidly. The area is complete with vending machines so users can recharge easily with a refreshment.
On the other hand, various focus spaces have also been carved out for employees who require concentration. From the semi-private open seating to quiet pods for “me time” or private calls, there is a variety of settings accommodating different working styles.
Located close to the full-length windows to enable maximum natural light, the two pantries are seen as spaces that lift employees’ moods and energy levels. Views of the surrounding vicinity and greenery grant a connection to the outside, aiming to help people get through their days in a relaxed manner.
In consideration of employees’ indoor environmental health, the office has an active indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring program in place to minimise harmful pollutants. Interior finishes such as carpets, wall and ceiling acoustic panels are mostly recyclable and sustainable materials that adhere to international green label standards.
“With a collaborative office space designed to be conducive and commodious, our employees can have more opportunities to engage and share ideas in a happy working environment. This enhanced synergy makes it easier for us to leverage CPG’s multidisciplinary advantage and value-add to the built environment,” said Tan Cheng Chuah, Managing Director of PM Link and CPPL.
