‘Liaigre Creation’ from writer and art historian Francoise-Claire Prodhon takes readers inside LIAIGRE’s latest private residences for an intimate look into the exceptional craftsmanship within.
June 29th, 2020
Frauke Meyer, the creative director of LIAIGRE, describes Christian Liaigre as a designer that has never stopped at the initial convictions and instead pushed on to search, through instinct and reflection, for the defining aspect of each project. Christian is a designer who teaches how to see, either as a painter or sculptor, the essential element that gives the project its value. A designer that rewrites history beyond styles or fashion trends and pursues the essence of beauty in its most refined form.
These are high words of praise but ones that still resonate in the work that we can see in the launch of ‘Liaigre Creation’ a new book that gives its readers a look into five private residence projects that capture the range of the ‘Liaigre Style’. The book, published by Rizzoli New York, comes to us from art historian Françoise-Claire Prodhon who is herself a renowned art critic, author, and journalist, with writing credits from magazines such as Flash Art International, Intramuros, and AD France.
The exceptional craftsmanship, a precise aesthetic, and luxurious simplicity with a subtle eye for detail that are has synonymous with “Liaigre” across its 40 years are in full display throughout the books pages. While its visionary founder has left, this book, covering projects from 2016-2020 shows that LIAIGRE has been infused with new energy and continues to exemplify understated elegance, and the most refined art de vivre. The book’s pages give readers and immersive dive into the character-filled interiors that speak to Studio Liaigre’s consistent vision for the future. The five projects detailed in CREATION were started under Mr. Liaigre and completed by his team under the artistic direction of his long-time collaborative colleague Frauke Meyer, demonstrating the seamless continuation of the brands legacy.
Readers are treated to the beautiful project within, including a Japanese house overlooking hot thermal springs; a modernist palace in New Delhi (Studio Liaigre’s first project in India); a sensitive renovation of a traditional villa in St. Moritz; an update to a glamorous Parisian Maison from the early twentieth century; and a modern reinterpretation of a Bavarian-style mansion in Munich—projects that capture the lavish range of the “Liaigre style.”
The book will also featured is a chapter on Liaigre’s Paris studio offering a fascinating behind-the-scenes look into the brands creative laboratory. With specially commissioned photography, and an engaging essay by French art historian Françoise-Claire Prodhon, this volume will delight Liaigre fans, and aficionados of Liaigre’s emblematic, timeless aesthetic.
Liaigre Creation 2016-2020 will be released in June 2020 in hardcover containing 360 pages with 300 colour photographers for 120 SGD available in Liaigre Singapore Showroom, 9 Purvis Street.
