Measuring a mere 25 millimetres in diameter, the delicate pipe in Axor ShowerPipe 800 is the epitome of elegant minimalism. Designed by hansgrohe’s long-time collaborator Phoenix Design, the design of Axor ShowerPipe 800 was an exercise of reduction that resulted in a shower system that both visually appealing and environmentally friendly.
It saves water, space, provides excellent experience and delightful visuals, it is no wonder that the Axor ShowerPipe 800 took home the gold at the 2019 German Design Award this February. The jury praised the product for exceeding expectations in both form and function.
“The ShowerPipe 800 water guiding system stands out from the competition already at first glance, thanks to its delicate design, which is reduced to the essentials, and its elemental design language – which does not visually dominate the bathroom decor, but instead merely rounds it out with elegant understatement,” cited the jury.
The shower system comprises a thin pipe that connects a hand shower, a shower bar and a thermostat. A similarly thin plane of mirrored glass placed above the thermostat provides a compact yet effective shelf.
The control system is cut from the same minimalist cloth. It features just two buttons on its front side that serve to control hansgrohe’s famed PowderRain jet function. The showerhead’s fine silicone nozzles create a cocoon of water that gently envelops the user.
