New Collections From Designers Guild

The latest Autumn/Winter 2015 collections from Designers Guild draw their inspiration from the aesthetic movement of the 19th century.

This season’s collections are inspired by artists such as Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Albert Moore, and Frederic Leighton – whose raison d’etre was ‘l’art pour l’art’ and the celebration of beauty without restraint.

The collections evoke this Pre Raphaelite spirit with the most stunning painterly flowers against cloud filled skies or plasterly damask grounds that give layers of pattern and a softly translucent impression. These are counterbalanced with designs that bring a graphic edge with geometric detail inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement personified by Pugin and Lutyens.

The colour palette is as broad as the artist’s palette; ranging from chalky, softer shades of rose pink, eau de nil, duck egg and grey to deeper shades of damson and indigo, accents of brighter colours, and glimmers of gold and silver.

For Autumn 2015, the Buckingham collection is awe-inspiring with vast-scale pictorial prints evoking scenes of palaces, great parks, and the fineries of country estate life. These are combined with smaller scale, intricate motifs found within 16th and 17th century artworks wherein the portraits and costumes have provided a wealth of inspiration.

This season, two brand new collections from William Yeoward capture his passion for shades of indigo blue as well as texture and pattern. Print weaves and embroideries bring William’s classic style to life with abstract geometrics as well as floral and foliage inspired designs.

The launch is complete with a new plain collection, Library II, which adds to the success of Library with its offering of four new textures to complement William’s portfolio of fabrics and wallpapers.

The new Designers Guild collections are available in fabric, wallcoverings, and a whole host of home accessories.

Designers Guild is available in Singapore at Romanez.
