8 design pieces that marry innovation with tradition

Lema Yard

From furniture to wardrobe solutions, a complete interior offering is commonplace in many furniture stores today in order to keep up with stiff competitions and growing market demands. But only a handful have garnered global recognition, largely owing to their originality, innovation in design and manufacturing, and unyielding quality control.

With roots stretching back to the 1930s, Lema, a well-established industrial player continues to be at the forefront. The Italian brand constantly innovates and reinvents its product line-up for modern day environments. Here are eight exceptional pieces that marry innovation with tradition.

Yard sofa

Lema Yard

Available in fabric, leather and eco-leather variants, this deep-seated, low-profile sofa combines modularity with that of the retentive systems that are an integral part of Lema’s DNA. A re-interpretation of the industrial design of the ‘60s, the Yard sofa presents various configurations and systems such as padded volumes that integrate with counters, shelves, tables and containers. Completing the collection is an elegant daybed also designed by Francesco Rota.

Dandy wardrobe

Lema Dandy

As a response to the increasing affinity for artisanal artefacts, all aspects of this hinged door wardrobe – size, finishes, panels, interior, accessories and lighting solutions – can be customised. With a plethora of panels to to choose from, the glass version doubles as display cases while the panels with decorative fabric covering alludes to the simplicity of Japanese design sensibilities.

Court Yard storage

Lema Court Yard

An extension of the Yard sofa, Court Yard is a system of wooden containers with open compartments and sliding doors, supported by a sturdy metal structure. While stunning on its own, it has also been created to complement Lema’s collections of upholstered furniture.

Hati chair

innovation with tradition - Lema Hati from W. Atelier

Lema Hati

The clean architectural lines and carefully calibrated proportions, a signature of Piero Lissoni, define this classic chair that has been given a contemporary touch. Ideal as an armchair and a dining chair in any interior, Hati is truly a versatile piece. It’s available with backrest and seat part in fabric, leather, eco-leather or twine, or in full-wood version.

LT40 day system

innovation with tradition - Lema LT40 from W. Atelier

Lema LT40

Designed by David Lopez Quincoces, this modular system of containers and wall elements comes in four configurations: floor unit, sideboards, cupboards and boiserie. They can be mixed freely together and with additional elements – benches and storage solutions for multimedia equipment, double side containers, tops in marble and glasses and integrated LED lighting system – for a bespoke solution. The customisation of LT40 is also reflected in the wide range of finishes for all elements of the system: wood, glasses, clays, natural and reconstructed marbles. The structure is composed of Grey velvet, an innovative ultra-matte material that is durable and velvety to the touch.

Mansion coffee table

innovation with tradition - Lema Mansion from W. Atelier

Lema Mansion

Unlike regular coffee tables, Mansion designed by Christophe Pillet has a storage element disguised as aesthetic quality. A slab of sliding heat-treated oak runs across the top, creating a dynamic design in the process. This ethereal quality belies its strong built.

Lema Air Cleaning System

innovation with tradition - Lema Air Cleaning System from W. Atelier

Lema Air Cleaning System

A wardrobe takes new meaning with the introduction of Lema Air Cleaning System. The storage furniture now plays an active role in sanitising clothing, footwear, accessories and anything else contained inside. Born out of 12 months of research, the patented sanitisation system uses nanotechnology and a special UV lamp to generate photochemical reaction that removes bacteria, mould and over 90 percent of bad odours. The device can be installed in selected Lema wardrobes and is extremely quiet when in use.

Shade table

innovation with tradition - Lema Shade from W. Atelier

Lema Shade

This beautiful creation by Francesco Rota is at home in hotel lobbies, dining rooms and workspaces of the modern world. Delicate sheets of metal, arranged in an asymmetrical cross shape make up the sculptural pedestal that supports the sleek table top. Its name is derived from the shadows created by the metal base.

In Singapore, Lema is exclusively available at W. Atelier.
