Where grandeur and performance matter, Kebony is the only sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood.
12 October, 2015
The demand for durable hardwoods is one of the reasons why tropical forests are quickly being destroyed. Softwoods, despite being fast-growing in sustainably managed forests, is not durable enough for the exteriors.
Enter Kebony, a new wood that marries the best of both worlds. Kebony is essentially softwood modified to possess the performance capabilities of tropical hardwood. Perfect for cladding and decking, it requires minimum maintenance and brings low life cycle expenditure, despite long-term usage indoors or outdoors.
Developed in Norway, the Kebony technology is an environmentally friendly and patented process designed to enhance the characteristics of non-durable softwoods. A bio-based liquid permanently modifies the wood’s cell structure, allowing softwood to adopt the desirable qualities of tropical hardwood, in terms of look and feel and long-lasting properties.
Suitable for interior and exterior applications, Kebony woods offer a range of lengths. Over time and exposure to the elements, they acquire a silver patina.
Kebony products come with a 30-year warranty in any climate.
