The Intuitive Minimalism of Axor One

Designed by Barber & Osgerby, the Axor One shower control module does away with dials and knobs and presents a highly intuitive ‘Select’ button that will eliminate that dreaded shower fear.

The Intuitive Minimalism of Axor One

“Have you had the experience of going into a hotel shower and being confronted by this wall of controls that makes you feel like you’re trying to make a submarine sink or rise? You’re terrified that if you press the wrong thing you’ll be covered in freezing or boiling water,” says Jay Osgerby, one-half of British design Barber Osgerby.

It’s a very relatable experience, and one that Hansgrohe has tackled with its all-in-one shower control element Axor One. Designed by Barber & Osgerby, Axor One brings all the functions one needs to control the shower in one central control unit and does away with other superfluous functions.

Says Osgerby, “We asked ourselves how we could bring all of those different elements into just one unit. There are two really good reasons to do that: one, you don’t have that ‘shower fear’; and two, the plumber doesn’t have to put 12 different things on the back of your wall. That means it’s simpler to install and fix, and much cheaper.”

Axor One invites intuitive use, and makes use of Hansgrohe’s simple push-button ‘Select’ technology. Rather than turning knobs or dials to control the water flow, the ‘Select’ button features a mechanical form of control that bypasses the complexity associated with trickier electronic systems. Simply use your finger, the back of your hand or your elbow to press the relevant paddle to activate and adjust the shower that you want.

Axor One’s minimalist form offers a greater versatility in the bathroom – you can stylishly combine all Axor showers into the Axor One thermostat module. And for an even more personalised bathroom, Axor One is offered in 15 special finishes.
