Being a laminated sedimentary rock, shale has a rich texture and beautifully dense colour, but it’s prone to breaking apart. That’s why Italian ceramics manufacturer Italgraniti Group has translated the stone’s character into a durable – and visually rich – porcelain stoneware tile collection. The Shale collection of tiles captures the natural essence of slate with an authentic visual portrayal of the stone’s unique qualities. The delicate characteristics of split stone are expressed with graphic dynamism in smooth as well as ribbed surfaces that give a sense of the ever-changing status of the natural material’s surface. Tones such as dark Ash, mid-toned Greige and pale Moon are expressed with variations in shade and veining for an ultimately natural appearance.
