So this year, we’ve assembled a stellar line-up of progressive minds in Singapore’s design industry as well as the built environment landscape. With a focus on solving problems through design, each speaker offers unique perspectives and new insights that taps into the topics that matter most to you.

Singapore Indesign Intimate 2023 will kick-off the first Design Conversation on 15 March, 6pm at XTRA Office. Hosted by Herman Miller and XTRA, the focus is on Digital Transformation In The Workplace and our speakers will weigh in on this subject.

On the panel:

Ben Hamley
Data-Driven Design and Innovation, APAC, JLL
In this role, Ben Hamley is responsible for the organisation and synthesis of several internal and client datasets to shape a new science of hybrid work. Hamley led JLL’s world-first Workplace Neuroscience study in 2022, investigating how the human mind responds to working together versus remotely. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the Analytics Institute of Australia, and was awarded Good Design Australia’s inaugural ‘Design Pioneer’ Award for his work on Democratising tools for Strategic Design with his former company, Business Models Inc.

Larissa Murphy
Vision Creator, Dare Design
With 25 years’ experience in workspace design and considered a thought leader in the industry, Larissa Murphy uses her extensive knowledge to take a different approach to the workspace. She deviates from typical and rigid structures and processes to create spatial flows that channel the engagement, energy and enthusiasm of employees, inciting optimism and provoking human feeling in the workspace. Murphy also lectures at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as part of their course on organisational psychology and the study of human efficiency in space.

Matilda Sung
Partner, Graphite Studio
Prior to setting up Graphite Studio in 2016 with several partners, Matilda Sung worked at Geyer and Woods Bagot, to name a few. She has over 20 years of experience designing best-practice workplaces, securing her relatively young and small firm formidable clients like Bloomberg, Nike, Google and JP Morgan. Passionate in nurturing young designers, Sung currently leads a design mentorship programme called Design Clinic Series #1.

Ryan Anderson
Vice President of Global Research and Insights, MillerKnoll
Ryan Anderson and his team leads MillerKnoll’s research efforts in partnership with a wide variety of global collaborators. With nearly 30 years of industry experience, his work has centered on how the places we inhabit can be better designed and managed to support positive, productive experiences. Anderson hosts MillerKnoll’s Looking Forward podcast on the future of work, regularly speaks at public events about MillerKnoll’s historical and current research, and has been featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, NPR, the BBC, Fortune and Bloomberg.

Our second Design Conversation will take place on 16 March, 11:30am at Louis Poulsen Singapore showroom. In this session, our speakers will discuss innovative strategies and solutions Towards A Low-Carbon Built Environment.

Emir Nurov
Co-Founder & CEO, Resync
Emir Nurov leads Resync, an AI-driven Intelligent Energy Cloud Solutions provider. He previously worked as New Product Development Manager at REC Solar and holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Nanyang Technological University. Skilled in business strategy, market analysis and product commercialization, he delivers improvement projects to successfully achieve company targets in a fast-paced business environment.

Farizan d’Avezac de Moran 
Senior Partner, GreenA Consultants
Farizan d’Avezac de Moran is a Senior Partner at GreenA Consultants, a sustainability building consultancy firm based in Singapore and Africa. She was conferred the Green Advocate of the Year for BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Awards in 2015, a Sustainability Leadership Award launched to recognise industry leaders for outstanding contribution in the industry. She is also a Board Member of Singapore Green Building Council and Vice President for Singapore Institute Of Building Limited.

Kevin Lim
Principal, Studio SKLIM
Kevin Lim is the founding principal of Studio SKLIM, a design practice based in Singapore, with built works in Singapore, Japan, China and India. His current obsessions include re-engineering educational spaces for greater agility in less developed economies and the future-proofing of ‘primitive materials’. The Architectural Association (London) and National University of Singapore architecture alumnus is also an accredited professional of the India Green Building Council. 

Yann Follain
Managing Director & Head of Design, WY-TO Group
Yann Follain’s formative years in Indonesia, France, and Singapore has established his diverse expertise in sustainable design through community programming, cultural curation and experiential exhibitions. Follain is a frequent speaker on tropical sustainability and museum curation in the region and has been appointed Festival Director of Archifest in 2018. He is the current Co-Chair of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design.

Our final Design Conversation will be hosted by Stylecraft and Tappeti on 16 March, 6pm at Stylecraft Singapore showroom. Cherin Tan
Founder, LAANK & LAAT
Cherin Tan has come a long way since her career began at WOW Architects and Asylum. Today, she is known for creating highly-developed, experiential spaces in commercial sectors through her award-winning interior design practice, LAANK. Tan is the recipient of SIDS 20 Under 45 Award and IDCS Interior Designer of the Year in 2021. She also co-created LAAT, a unique upcycling furniture label with Phunk co-founder Alvin Tan with the purpose to repurpose the wastage of materials in the design industry.

Esli Ee
Co-Founder, Offcut Factory
Esli Ee is currently a consultant at IBM, leading the design domain with expertise in service and strategic user experience design. He concurrently runs his creative studio, Offcut Factory, which focuses on closing the sustainability loop and strongly believes in using waste as a source material.

Morgan Yeo
Director, Roger&Sons
Morgan Yeo, the eldest of the co-founders, leads Roger&Sons in the pursuit of sustainable methods and processes. The company crafts bespoke furniture and thoughtful objects using sustainably harvested wood. Yeo also leads The Local Tree Project, an initiative that salvages trees that have been felled for urban redevelopment and crafts them into useful objects.
