Who’s who and who’s on the move within the architecture and design industry? Bates Smart, Carr and ClarkeHopkinsClarke announce their latest senior appointments.

Bates Smart welcomes Laurie Aznavoorian as Strategy and Research Lead.
Laurie’s extensive background in architecture, design and strategy provides unique insights into the role that buildings and interiors play in supporting business objectives, brand positioning, culture and the psychological mindset of the human beings who interact with these spaces.
Her recent work on the impact of physical environment on professional networks, community and belonging will complement Bates Smart’s remote working study. Together this will be the catalyst for future research projects Laurie will spearhead that explore the spatial and psychological impact of COVID-19. Laurie is a frequent speaker and has authored multiple articles including over a hundred on her blog futuresrambling.com.
Carr is pleased to share the elevation and appointment of three members of its leadership team.
Joining the team at Carr as an Associate in the residential interiors team is Anouche Levy. With over 20 years’ experience, Anouche brings a wealth of expertise having both run her own studio and worked in several practices. Encompassing a broad range of cross-sector experience and a highly resolved approach to residential interiors, Anouche will lead the residential team embedding the design rigour that Carr is renowned for.
Carr is also thrilled to announce two leadership elevations within the team, strengthening the business across key disciplines. David Brooks has been promoted to Associate Director. Having successfully led several key projects over the past few years – including United Places, Heyington Place. David steps into this more senior role at a critical time where he will bring several important multi-residential projects to fruition.
Also promoted into the leadership team as an Associate is Richard Beel. Richard’s attention to detail and project management has seen him successfully bring several projects to life, all with a keen eye on design.
ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects welcomes a familiar face back, talent from abroad, and a new local recruit, with three recent senior appointments made across its Sydney and Melbourne studios.
Tina Huynh returns to ClarkeHopkinsClarke, after several years at Hayball, as a Senior Architect in Education. Tina is an experienced project leader with broad creative and mentoring skills, impeccable design sense, and a decade’s experience at the forefront of educational design managing high profile, big budget projects.
Aram Lello, formerly of dhk Architects in Johannesburg, has moved to Australia to take up the new role of Senior Architect and Studio Leader at ClarkeHopkinsClarke’s Sydney practice in Surry Hills, where he also assists Mixed Use Partner Jordan Curran with strategic management. Aram brings 15 years’ experience in Europe and Africa leading complex large-scale commercial, mixed use, multi-residential, hospitality and civic projects and a strong focus on community impact. He also creates multi-award-winning furniture designed for sustainability and flexibility.
Kyal Erdman is a designer of multi-award-winning commercial, civic and tertiary environments who recently joined ClarkeHopkinsClarke’s Interiors team from Hassell. An astute observer of the ever-evolving nature of work, Kyal is known for outstanding workplace design with strong volumetric style and sensory experience. He’s a natural joiner-of-dots and works with multiple sectors in ClarkeHopkinsClarke’s Melbourne and Sydney studios.
