With a wealth of experience delivering high-profile hotel projects around the world, David Buffery has been appointed by Benoy to lead its Global Hospitality Team.
July 21st, 2014
As the new Global Head of Hospitality Design at Benoy, David Buffery will be based in the firm’s Hong Kong studio.
Buffery comes with over 20 years of experience working in the interior design industry and has delivered high-profile schemes for clients such as Intercontinental Hotels, Galaxy Resort Casinos and Starwood Hotels.
Prior to joining Benoy, Buffery established the interior design team for Aedas in Hong Kong before founding the boutique design firm, Sketch.
“I am honoured to take up this global role for Benoy. For me, the most important aspect of hospitality design is working with the architect and interior architect to ensure a strong design language reverberates throughout a scheme. This is a core philosophy I can already see in Benoy’s work,” says Buffery.
“Benoy’s model for promoting multi-disciplinary design teams and their balance of commercial acumen alongside creative and locally sensitive design gives me a very strong platform to launch the Global Hospitality Team. The opportunity for our clients and what Benoy will offer to the sector is very exciting.”
Elaborating on his new role, he says, “I will be working to promote greater integration between Architecture and Interiors. My role will be multi-faceted to maximise the potential of the interior spaces and the holistic approach to the hospitality designs. I will be initially providing leadership to extend Benoy’s presence in the regions we are currently working and also focusing on the opportunities of the emerging high growth markets around the world.”
Buffery will be commencing a tour across Benoy’s global studios in Asia, the UAE and the UK to drive, develop and manage the firm’s Hospitality portfolio, which already includes the award-winning EAST Hotel in Beijing.
