On 25 May 2016, Space invited the design community to help unveil prototypes in oversized boxes flown in straight from Italy – shown for the first time to architects and designers here following the Milan Furniture Fair.
June 7th, 2016
Following its debut last year, Space’s Milan Talks 2016 gathered the design community once again to assist in unboxing parcels of new products and prototypes from the recently ended Milan Furniture Fair. While sharing that the product selection process for the presentation was challenging due to the high standards of this year’s Fair, Christina Caredes, Group CEO of Space Furniture explained that the team was guided by what they considered as fresh, refined and suitable for the Asian context.
Products revealed were the B&B Italia Do-Maru chair by Doshi Levien; Arflex Hall armchair by Roberto Menghi; Carl Hansen & Søn CH22 armchair by Hans J. Wegner and LM92T Metropolitan chair by Larsen & Bender Madsen; Gebrüder Thonet Vienna (GTV) Bistrostuhl chair by Nigel Coates and Waltz wall hanger by GamFratesi ; Moooi Perch light by Umut Yamac; and Kartell Roy stool by Alessandro Mendini. Moooi Carpets also made its debut alongside two new Nanimarquina rugs, Quill by Nao Tamura and Lattice by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec.
Underscoring the event was a purposefully selected soundtrack by Dutch artist Bas de Wit. His music was originally used by Moooi in Milan. Paper frames were given out to encourage guests to zoom in and capture details of the products on their phones.
