Celebrating the best of Australian and International design, the shortlist for the 2010 Australian International Design Awards has been announced.
Amongst this year’s entries are an eclectic range of leisure and functional items, including a re-usable coffee cup, playground swing equipment, fire retardant underwear and high tech medical instruments.
Presented by Standards Australia, the AIDA is Australia’s premier design assessment program, which recognises Australian and International design and innovation across a wide range of categories.
Representing eight categories – which include Consumer, Business and Technology, Medical and Scientific, Automotive and Transport, Sport and Leisure, Housing and Building, Heavy Machinery and Architectural and Interior Products – the awards showcases some of the most innovative creations from around the globe.
From a record number of 202 entries, 177 products have been shortlisted to progress to the Final Round Assessment stage of the prestigious program.
“This year’s Shortlist features a diverse range of world-class innovative products designed by global companies as well as local and international design consultancies and entrepreneurs”, said Stephanie Pemberton, Program Director of the Australian International Design Awards.
The winners of the 2010 ADIA will be announced on Friday 4 June.
