A Perforated Armchair By The Bouroullec Brothers

Outdoor furniture brand Kettal has released Stampa, an outdoor-friendly armchair conceived by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec following an exploration into different metal manufacturing techniques.

A Perforated Armchair By The Bouroullec Brothers

The Stampa armchair is made entirely of a single material, aluminium, which has been subtly perforated to soften the industrial impression commonly associated with metal. Designed by Paris-based brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec in collaboration with outdoor furniture brand Kettal, the material and clean silhouette of Stampa ensures its longevity, even with regular outdoors use.

Kettal used a series of metal production techniques to materialise Stampa. An injection-moulded ring acts like a structural bone that enforces the stability of the armchair, while connecting the ‘stamped’ seat and back to its hydro-formed legs.

The enveloping seating shell is perforated using a technique drawn from punching metal sheets. These delicate perforations make the aluminium armchair less cold, without compromising on the overall structural integrity. It also creates a tactile experience that references textile patterns.

Stampa can be customised through an extensive range of colours, with the option of cushioning to enhance comfort.

Kettal is carried in Hong Kong by colourliving.
