Kohler invited Singapore architecture and design industry VIPs for an intimate gathering and intriguing presentations by six leading creative minds, powered by Pecha Kucha at The Working Capitol.

Last Thursday marked an important milestone for Kohler in Singapore. The leading sanitaryware brand opened its new Kohler Experience Centre on Peck Seah Street at the heart of the vibrant Tanjong Pagar area.
The festivities kicked off with an intimate gathering attended by architecture and design industry VIPs at The Working Capitol. Indesign Media Asia was proud to be the media partner for A Night of Discovery: The Finish is Just the Beginning – a Kohler event powered by Pecha Kucha.
Moderated by Cubes and Indesignlive.sg editor Narelle Yabuka, with guests of honour David Kohler (President and CEO of Kohler), Larry Yuen (Group President of Kohler Kitchen and Bath Group) and Angel Yang (President of Kohler Kitchen and Bath Asia Pacific), the event was a celebration of an exciting new step in how Kohler interacts with its design industry colleagues.
It took the theme of ‘Discovery’ and featured Pecha Kucha’s famous 20 images x 20 seconds presentation format. Six leading minds from diverse creative fields presented their work and thoughts. They were Joshua Judd (Director at SRSS Interior Design), Robbyn Carter (Project Director at HBA), Aldwin Ong (Design Director and Principal at Wilson Associates), Tan Lun Cheak (Studio Director at Kohler Asia Pacific), designer Olivia Lee and artist Mamakan.
Fascinating topics were pondered and questioned in the presentations. Judd spoke of AI and robotic concierge services in the hospitality industry (How will the market react to this?). Carter discussed new materials (How do you balance the exploration of new materials with constraints from clients?). Ong drew focus to timelessness in design (Hint: there is no timeless design – it needs to adapt). Mamakan discussed her exploration of native edible plants in Singapore. And Lee presented her soulful explorations of people’s expectations of design. Tan closed the afternoon with a mention of IoT products and the navigation of change.
Thereafter the festivities continued with the opening of the Kohler Experience Centre. Look out for a dedicated feature on the Centre and an interview with David Kohler on Indesignlive.sg!
