International architecture practice 10 Design has announced a ground-breaking merger with San-Fransisco-based architecture and design practice SB Architects.
September 9th, 2022
Shaking up the international community is a recently announced merger between two practices, 10 Design and SB Architects. And with 10 Design being a part of Egis Group, SB Architects will be able to expand its global presence with the promise of exciting high-profile projects.
Joined together by their complementary nature, the merger is part of Egis’s plan to develop leading architectural talents in-house. And with 10 Design’s parent company Egis, who produced the Paris 2050 Carbon Neutral Plan, the future not just for the industry, but everyone, is a little bit brighter.
“This merger is another step along the way to expand upon 10 Design’s international footprint,” says Ross Milne, CEO of 10 Design. “The geographic office locations and design skills of each practice provide an incredible platform for multiskilled collaboration.”
With 10 Design’s offices across the Asia Pacific and the United Kingdom, the merger joins the United States-focused SB Architects, building a bridge for the possibility of international collaboration.
“In the past 18 months, we have worked together on many projects from Asia to the US, which has strengthened our belief that we are completely aligned culturally and in terms of architectural ambition. I look forward to the next chapter where we together with Egis can build the business and produce world-class architecture,” elaborates Milne.
The current business structure, team and design approach will remain the same for both practices, but as both harbour an entrepreneurial spirit, are ethically driven, and pride themselves as ‘people-first’ firms, therein lies exciting possibilities for innovative and sustainable ideas.
And Scott Lee, president and principal of SB Architects, agrees. “We are delighted to share this announcement in what I have no doubt will be an exciting and pivotal moment for our future. This is an incredible opportunity to transition and evolve SB Architects. It happened at the right time, in the right way, to allow our firm’s vision and potential to be fully realised.
This merger is in line with our strategic plan to build on the strength of our service offering while maintaining our commitment to quality, innovation, and value. The reputation and resources from the Egis Group and 10 Design combined with SB Architects’ 62 years of design excellence will secure the collective a place in the pantheon of architecture, which is the pinnacle of where we have always strived to be.”
