Nyee Phoe’s Mosscape Concept Offers ‘HortiTainment’ At Scotts Square

Nyee Phoe Group is exactly twice the age of Singapore this year. The family business has been creating landscapes in Singapore and beyond since 1911. The group plays an active role in educating the general public about Singapore’s horticulture industry, and it has forged a small but flourishing farmers’ community.

Today, the group operates its many ventures from a 2.2-hectare piece of land along Neo Tiew Crescent in Kranji. These include landscape consultancy Nyee Phoe Flower Garden, creative floral services Petals & Leaves, and Gardenasia, the group’s ‘HortiTainment’ arm, whose offering includes farm stays, in-bistro dining, and events centred on agriculture and food production, eco-tourism, education and conservation.

This April Nyee Phoe has brought its horticulture entertainment offering to the city centre by opening Mosscape Concept. The2,800-square-feet pop-up store occupies a street-facing retail space on Scotts Square formerly leased by Hermes.

Mosscape Concepts mainly showcases interior design items from Mosscape, Nyee Phoe Group’s B2B arm. Displayed products include feature ‘green’ wall comprises real preserved leaves, moss and flowers which have been treated in Spain. These products are affordable, low-maintenance and can last up to one year (for the preserved foliage and flowers) and three years (for the preserved moss), making them suitable for seasonal displays and interior refurbishments.

The store also offers workshops like designing your own terrarium and talk sessions on food and health by experts. Rounding up the offering is a curated farm-to-fork takeaway menu with locally-grown produce from renowned Singapore farms under the group’s new brand, The Local Farm — think fresh salad, fish chowder, goat milk popsicles and aloe vera drinks.

“Mosscape Concept is a one-of-a-kind venture where the public can learn and understand more about ‘HortiTainment’, which I believe is trending in our city,” says Nyee Phoe Group’s director and fourth-gen owner Kenny Eng.  Mosscape Concepts will open until the end of July 2019.
