This year, Singapore Design Week (SDW) returns from 21 September to 1 October. Marking DesignSingapore Council’s (Dsg) 20th anniversary, this special edition of SDW brings to life the council’s motto ‘Better By Design’. A key highlight is the festival commission at the design district of Bras Basah.Bugis. These specially commissioned installations by local designer such as Jackson Tan of BLACK, Ong Ker-Shing and Joshua Comaroff of Lekker Architects, and Pann Lim of Kinetic Singapore, will present new ideas in sustainability, innovation and inclusivity. In addition, the local design community will be presenting over 80 ground-up events ranging from exhibitions, talks and panel discussions to workshops, tours and retail pop ups inspired by the festival theme and three pillars.
Returning for its second edition from 21 to 23 September at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, FIND – Design Fair Asia 2023 will host 350 international brands, an expanded hosted buyer program and exciting on-site initiatives across 18,000 square metres of exhibition space. Event highlights include the FIND – Global Summit with 50 international speakers, the collective participation of 38 Italian companies and a new installation ‘Italia Geniale’, and an array of promising Southeast Asian talent showcases at EMERGE @ FIND.
Centred in the historic Kampong Gelam precinct, this year’s 17th edition of Archifest is themed along ‘Interim: Acts of Adaptation’ and invites festival goers to reflect on the adaptability of our built environment to respond to pressing issues as the city continues to evolve. Oraganised by Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), the festival demonstrates the ever-changing layers of the city through a month-long line-up of new and diverse programmes. Running from 29 September to 28 October, visitors can expect engaging installations, incubator design workshops, residencies, and thought-provoking talks.
Set to take place from 21 to 24 September, Metaverse Architecture Biennale will unite visionary architects, designers and creators from across the globe to showcase the transformative potential of architecture in reshaping Web3 and the Metaverse as a thriving platform for business and culture. Inspired by the Venice Biennale and Expo, it promises a spectacle of virtual pavilions and immersive landscapes crafted by architects. Attendees will engage with thought-provoking pavilions, participate in cultural and entertainment events, attend captivating talks and lectures, and discover cutting-edge solutions for businesses in the Metaverse.
