Art lovers and collectors rejoice. ART SG, Southeast Asia’s largest ever art fair is happening next week.
January 3rd, 2023
Over 150 leading galleries from 35 countries and territories worldwide will convene at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre from 12th to 15th January for ART SG. Presented by UBS and organised by The Art Assembly, the inaugural fair will be Southeast Asia’s first fair of such scale and international significance in the region.
Given Singapore’s vibrant art scene and ecologies in Asia, with strong financial and lifestyle ties to other regional capitals, the island state makes the ideal host for the biggest art fair launch in Asia-Pacific in a decade. Co-timed with Singapore Art Week, ART SG will present exceptional artworks by artists across Level 1 and Basement 2 of the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.
In addition to the main GALLERIES sector, ART SG will present FOCUS, a contextualised sector featuring galleries presenting solo or duo artist programmes, or curated presentations; FUTURES, a sector dedicated to supporting young galleries under the age of six years, presenting specially created presentations for ART SG; and REFRAME, for galleries presenting art that is engaged with, made or presented using digital technology, which includes digital painting, animation, immersive installations, augmented or virtual reality, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
To further entice visitors, there will also be large-scale site-specific installations and sculptures, a curated film sector screened in collaboration with the ArtScience Museum, thought-provoking panel discussions from industry experts, and a salon-style showcase of affordable artworks.
“We are truly excited to celebrate the rich diversity of art not only from Singapore and Southeast Asia, but from all corners of the world. From new modalities of painting to contemporary practice in sculpture, installations and stimulating conceptual works, as well as experimentations in technology-driven art, we hope the inaugural edition of ART SG will provide collectors, galleries, and art-lovers alike a vital opportunity for discovery, exchange and discourse,” commented Shuyin Yang, Fair Director, ART SG.
Bringing progressive concepts and curation to the Singapore art landscape, ART SG is set to build a distinctive identity while fostering artistic excellence and cultural dialogues across Southeast Asia and the broader Asia Pacific region.
