Returning to Thailand: AHEC’s latest convention comes to Bangkok

After four years, the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) marks its return to Bangkok, Thailand, with a convention that rivals events before the pandemic. On the 14th of October, 2022, AHEC’s 25th Southeast Convention will host over 200 delegates in Bangkok’s Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park.

Known as the leading international trade association for the United States hardwood industry, AHEC has led the global stage in sustainable wood promotions. And the theme for this year’s convention is about AHEC’s proven environmental credentials of American hardwood species.

The representatives come from 35 member companies from the USA, Hong Kong and Thailand, including the Thai Timber Association and the Thai Furniture Industrial Association. It is the second time AHEC has hosted in Bangkok, and it promises to offer valuable networking prospects for designers, manufacturers and distributors across Asia and the globe. And with Bangkok being the cultural and economically juggernaut of Thailand, the convention promotes opportunities to strengthen regional and international business relationships.

Featuring a holistic session, keynote speakers from US leading market and timber experts will provide exclusive insights into current market conditions and highlight prospects for Southeast Asian importers, manufacturers and designers in using American timber in their work.

AHEC’s convention will also include a feature interview with emerging Thai designer Nong Chotipatoomwan, whose exhibition, in collaboration with AHEC, the Wallpaper* exhibition Discovered at the London Design Museum in 2021 went on to exhibit at 2022’s Triennale in Milan.

With all these factors, AHEC’s overarching focus stems from its message of how sustainable American hardwoods contribute to environmentally responsible business practices and how American hardwoods can contribute to a greener future.

The convention’s message stems from bettering our built environments through the lens of sustainable, environmentally aware timber sourcing. Click here to register and find out more.
