The founder of Merx tells us why Singapore is a great base for his business.

Coming from Melbourne, Australia, William Forwood established Merx in Singapore 10 years ago as a project and construction management consultancy, representing clients to manage the delivery of fit-outs and construction projects.
“Our first project was the rolling out of more than 1,500 bus shelters in Singapore with Clear Channel International and the Singapore LTA,” William recalls.

Since then, Merx has grown into one of the top tier project management consultancies in Asia specialising in corporate office fit-outs, retail store delivery, and hospitality, industrial and data centre projects.
“The Merx philosophy revolves around five key elements – Agility, Excellence, Integrity, Passion and Teamwork. This is how we work and make projects happen,” William explains.
Although operations have grown to encompass Hong Kong and Malaysia, Merx’s headquarters is still in Singapore and they are committed to the local community.

“The exciting part of the Singapore design community is the blend of ’east meets west’ and ’yin and yang’ of international trends merging with Singapore tropical style influenced by the people, the country’s history, the cultures and the weather!” says William.

“One of the key benefits of being here in Singapore is the regional exposure and the ability to work throughout the region. More and more people are understanding through actual projects that there is a Singapore design style.”

Merx was also involved in Indesign’s first Saturday in Design event in Singapore on 21 May as a Gold Sponsor.
“We see our partnership with Saturday in Design as a fantastic way to embrace our relationship with the Singapore and regional design community and be part of the first year of this event happening outside Australia,” William says.
