Located right smack in the heart of the city centre, the Tanjong Pagar precinct came alive with an international design spirit complete with exciting product launches, installations and the ever popular Curated Space at the Red Dot Design Museum.

BW Furniture

There was a great buzz surrounding BW Furniture’s new 6,000sqft showroom at China Square Central, with lots to see at every turn, from a hanging furniture installation, to a lovely courtyard and showroom filled with different furniture brands such as Hay, Lightyears, Boss, EOQ and Okamura, to name a few. Visitors could also satisfy their tastebuds with beer and sliders whilst participating in various contests.

Bolon

Housed within BW Furniture, Bolon captured the imagination with its latest and much talked about 2014 collection “Silence”, which was inspired by Sweden’s forests and lakes, historical textiles and classic wooden parquet. Also revealed were new colours to its existing collections.

Waldmann Lighting showroom / sharing with Wilkhahn

Just a stone’s throw away from BW Furniture, Waldmann Lighting packed in the crowd, who were keen to check out their latest products, such as the PARA.MI LED and Visual Timing Light, as well as the Space Odyssey installation by Geyer. The party went up several notches in the afternoon with an open coffee bar, espresso martinis and a live DJ.

Waldmann Lighting showroom / sharing with Wilkhahn

Sharing Waldmann Lighting’s showroom, Wilkhahn showcased their new, much talked about Graph Table and winners from the Wilkhahn Chassis competition. Guests also got to experience great German hospitality and cool beats.

Kreon

Kreon’s new lighting installation “Rei – different qualities of silence” took the stage at Kreon, with visitors treated to a special tour of its Creative Space and goodie bags after. Those game enough to take on a selfie contest with their favorite Kreon luminaries also stood the chance to win a prize.

Kokuyo

Kokuyo’s new Inspine Chair, Saibi Office System and Brackets by Nendo showed the office of the future, while an interactive and evolving installation by M Moser and Temasek Polytechnic carried on the ‘Future’ theme throughout the space.

Design Hotels

Always a crowd pleaser, this year’s Curated Space pulled out all the stops from the get go, starting with Singapore Indesign’s very own fragrance, courtesy of AllSense, which lightly scented the space. Event partner Design Hotels was also there with two prize promotions, including a stay at The Mira Hong Kong, and Alila Villas Uluwatu, Bali.

Porada by Marquis QSquare

Porada by Marquis Qsquare showed off their range of fine Italian designs, including their latest, stunning furniture collection.

EDL

One also couldn’t miss EDL’s massive, interactive tree by Formwerkz, which underscored the wide spectrum of EDL’s timber laminates – there were even miniature versions that one could take home to construct in one’s own time.

Di Legno

Di Legno’s revolutionary Opti-myst fireplace amused and surprised the crowd who couldn’t resist putting their hands into the fire (it’s vapour). Their sculptural pieces of wooden furniture also stood out as works of art.

Speaking of art, Kohler had a lovely and diverse range of sanitary ware on display, each presented rather like an art piece. Faucets in a new luxurious Rose Gold finish also appeared like subtle jewels.

Jung Asia

On a very different note, Jung Asia gave one a tantalising glimpse into the home of the future with their cutting-edge switches and smart systems.

CMS Electracom

CMS Electracom was no less inviting, offering visitors the chance to experience their slew of wiring and power solutions firsthand.

Back to bathrooms, apaiser showed why they are the supplier to the world’s leading hotels and resorts with their beautiful range of stone composite products made from reclaimed marble.

mafi Flooring / Kebony Decking

mafi Flooring / Kebony Decking showed off an exciting new product in outdoor decking called Kebony, which is a sustainable alternative to tropical hardwoods.

Thinkingworks by Thinking Ergonomix

Following on from its first presentation as a prototype at Singapore Indesign in 2012, visitors to the Thinkingworks by Thinking Ergonomix stand got to see the colourful Okidoki Table once again, now available for production release. Also shown was a prototype of the Okidoki chair. Will we be seeing the actual product at our next event?

A little different from the other exhibitors but not less intriguing, Youmans Capsule were there with their innovative presentation cases – including new designs. These can be customised, ultimately helping users deliver the showstopping pitches and presentations they are after.
