Renowned and award-winning Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini was recently in town to talk about his work and meet with the local design community.
August 5th, 2014
Some 50 members of the Singaporean design community were at the Dream Interiors showroom in July to hear Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini speak.
Bellini, an eight-time Compasso d’Oro winner and recipient of other prestigious awards, including the Medaglia d’oro (2004) conferred by the President of the Italian Republic for his contribution to furthering design and architecture around the world, was in town to talk about his rich repository of work.
Given that Dream Interiors is the exclusive distributor of Cassina here, it wasn’t surprising to hear Bellini go in-depth into the innovation behind his iconic CAB chair for the Italian furniture house, with which he enjoys a longstanding partnership.
Not just a designer and architect, Bellini was also the editor of Domus magazine (1985 – 91). He has 25 of his works in the permanent design collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art, and has held numerous art, design and architecture exhibitions in Italy and across the world.
* Cubes Indesign will be covering an interview with Mario Bellini in its Oct/Nov issue. Watch for it.
