The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with an Awards Gala held at the Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event was hosted by the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID).
All IFI Past Presidents were deemed Fellow of IFI (FoIFI) for their vision, invaluable leadership, nurture and support of IFI. Shown here receiving recognition is Madeline Lester (2005 – 2007, Australia)
One of the key highlights of the evening was the honoring of individuals who have made important contributions to the interior architecture/design profession.
This included the acknowledgement of The IFI Fellowship recipients by Shashi Caan, IFI President (2009-2014) and members of the 2011-2014 IFI Executive Board.
Recognition was given to past IFI presidents for their leadership, support and guidance. Additionally, individuals from both within and beyond the IFI community were honoured for their leadership and contributions to the interiors discipline at an international level.
Members of the New Board celebrate their election
IFI was founded in 1963 to serve as a global voice and authority for professional Interior Architects/Designers. Today, it is the only international federating body that brings together Interior Architecture/Design organisations and the expanded community with the aim of furthering the influence and positive impact of the design of interiors; to promote global social responsibility; and to raise the status of the discipline and professional worldwide.
The main work for the new IFI Executive Board over the next 17 months will be to develop the new regional/territories’ model. The structural change is prompted by what IFI calls, “the changing discipline of Interior Architecture/Design” and is seen as an “an opportunity for organisational transformation”.
