#1 Singapore’s The Interlace Named World Building Of The Year

Ole Scheeren’s The Interlace has taken home the highest honour at this year’s World Architecture Festival – the title of “World Building of the Year”. Described as “a vertical village”, The Interlace eschews the standard high-rise housing typology to be found in this region – clusters of isolated towers – in favour of apartment blocks that are stacked diagonally across one another to frame large-scale open courtyards. #4 The Asian Civilisations Museum Gets New Wings

In over 140 years of its history, the building in Singapore which today houses the Asian Civilisations Museum has undergone several extensions and modifications. All of these were in keeping with the original style of the building. The latest extensions are, however, “unapologetically contemporary” according to homegrown architectural firm GreenhilLi, and are meant to form “interesting counterpoints” to the existing development.
