As the Asia Pacific region experiences a period of unprecedented urban growth, a planned future is essential to ensuring happiness and good design. Enter the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum.
3 February, 2016
Presented at various venues across Queensland from 1 to 14 March 2016, the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum is set to bring together leading architects and designers from across the entire Asia Pacific region to discuss and promote architecture’s vital role in the culture, sustainability and economy of the region.
The Asia Pacific region is in the midst of an unprecedented growth period, and architects have a pivotal role in shaping the future of cities going forward. Through a range of exhibitions, installations, symposia, lectures and workshops, the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum aims to explore and open up the ways these new cities can respond to the opportunities currently presenting themselves in this, the co-called Asian century.
The forum is a collaboration between Architecture Media and State Library of Queensland, and presenting partners Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, BVN and the Museum of Brisbane with event partners University of Queensland School of Architecture, Australian Institute of Architects, Artisan and the Australian High Commission Singapore; and is presented in association with QAGOMA and Maison & Objet Asia.
“Queensland has strategically positioned itself as relevant and influential in the region, through an important focus on cultural exchange and excellence of engagement in all areas of the arts” said Queensland Government Architect Malcolm Middleton. “None are more important now than the standard of architectural execution in this sub-tropical place that resonates strongly with our Asia Pacific neighbours.”
The full programme can be found on the forum’s website.
