Led by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), 6 local companies will be showing their designs at the Maison&Objet fair in Paris from 9 to 13 September, within the new Singapore Design Pavilion. They include d.lab, FARM, hans tan studio, kwodrent, Motto and Sam and Sara Homes.

Products to be shown at the fair include:

Peculiar Attachments by d.lab

This project started with the prediction of emerging trends. Through the concept of anti-trend, the idea of taking an unconventional approach with the joining elements was born. In the case of Peculiar Attachments, the shades of the lamps also act as dominant joining elements, while the supporting structures become subdominant.

Pigxel

Pigxel by Randy Chan, a collection by FARM

By using animation tools to ’sculpt’ the pig, the parametric of scaling and resolution of geometry is used to put a numeric value to this form. The construction of the piggy bank pushes the final boundary of production and methodology by revealing the value of representation which is analogous to its function as a coin-saving device.

Asian Wood Collection

Motto’s Asian Wood Collection

With this collection, the beauty of Asian wood is brought to the fore where pieces of wood are remodeled and reconnected with interlocking mechanisms and transformed into contemporary furniture.

The January 2011 edition of the biannual Maison&Objet attracted a record attendance of more than 85,000 professional visitors. More than 5 million different products from 300,000 different brands are usually presented at any edition of the trade fair.
