A Wiser approach to smart homes

Before turning in for the night at home, do you lock the doors, adjust the thermostat, and shut off the lights? Schneider Electric has a Wiser solution…

A Wiser approach to smart homes

As the smart home revolution continues to change the way we think, build and conceptualise the concept of the home, the need for truly integrated and smart solutions has never been more apparent. Schneider Electric has helped shape this game changing notion in residential design, and Wiser is the realisation of that.

The worldwide installed base for smart home devices is expected to reach some 286 million homes by 2022, and only increase from there. The Asia Pacific region is expected to account for approximately 30 percent of smart homes by 2030 and could come to dominate the global market, placing the need for local designers to pay attention to this growing trend.

Smart home controls range from the simple to the comprehensive – the most basic form involves a single device – say, a shutter or a smart plug – that you operate through your phone when you are in proximity of the device. Getting more complex though, smart technology allows you to control a particular set of functions within your home, such as all of your lighting or thermostats, in a standalone solution. In truly comprehensive systems, you are able to manage multiple sets of functions – lighting, shutters, heating, etc. – through a single app, even automating the systems to operate at certain times of the day or night.

As virtual digital assistants like Google Home, Amazon Echo and others increase in popularity, you can see how complex and comprehensive a modern smart home can be, which is why Schneider Electric designed the Wiser smart solution.

In launching Wiser, Schneider displayed their comprehensive knowledge of the smart home sector, and the challenges – and opportunities – it presents for designers and homeowners alike. Through Wiser, the extensive range of connected residential solutions Schneider offers converge into one open and easy-to-use platform.

Totally scalable depending on the range of devices present in the home, Wiser allows the user to begin controlling one smart device, and integrate devices as they’re added to the home. Popular virtual digital assistants, smart blinds, washing machines and more can be added to the device until full home automation is complete.

At the core of the Wiser solution is the feature-rich and user-friendly Wiser app. Now, with the press of a button, users can remotely control core home functions like air conditioning, heating, entertainment, lighting, curtains or shutters and more – all from one simple, intuitive app.

The Wiser smart home solution is bolstered thanks to Schneider’s partnerships with global giants Danfoss and Somfy, creating the Connectivity EcoSystem, which looks to boosts the adoption of connectivity technologies in residential and medium sized building markets. The Connectivity EcoSystem offers open, simple, and seamless integration between products and apps.

Schneider Electric has deep experience in the residential connected space, being a champion of smart technology for years. The brand knows the needs of designers, interior specialists, and homeowners, and with technology and partnership support, they have truly found the Wiser solution.
