Translating Doodle Art To Interior Fabrics

Kirkby Design introduces the lively work of ‘doodle’ artist Jon Burgerman to the world of interior design.

New York-based British artist Jon Burgerman is a trailblazer of pop culture’s ‘doodle’ art movement, known for his spontaneous yet controlled approach to colour and scale. Thanks to Kirkby Design, the work of the imaginative artist can now be incorporated into interior objects and spaces.

Using paints, crayons, ink, marker pens and paper cut-outs, Burgerman has created illustrative worlds made up of original characters and shapes. The artworks are then applied onto high-performance interior fabrics through an advance digital printing technology that captures Burgerman’s distinctive style.

Every mark, smudge and wash of ink has been artfully translated, creating a realistic hand-drawn effect. “I’m really impressed at how well the colour and texture is being reproduced in the fabrics. Some of them look like I have come and drawn all over the sofa,” says Burgerman.

A total of 46 designs in a range of colours, monochromes, candy and pastel hues have been launched in 100 per cent cotton ground fabrics that can be used in upholstery or drapes.

Kirkby Design is exclusively available in Singapore at Tatum Company.
