Super Loco brings the festive dining culture of Mexico City to Singapore’s The Quayside at Robertson Quay.
March 10th, 2015
Super Loco is the second F&B establishment by the same people who brought the highly popular Lucha Loco Mexican restaurant to Duxton Hill. Designed by Siew Hui Lim of Hui Designs, the interior of this 200-seat diner can best be described as vibrant, festive and casual, and is directly inspired by the owners’ own personal experiences in Mexico City.
“The goal was to combine the personalities of the owners, and their inspiration and passion for Mexican culture,” says Lim, who was also responsible for the interior design of Lucha Loco.
Festival lighting, bold colours, street posters and creative graphics give this diner a street fiesta atmosphere, enhanced by a long central cocktail bar and a rustic taqueria-style takeaway counter, which faces out onto the riverside walkway.
A rock rubble wall encases the kitchen and adds to the rustic, casual vibe. An area has also been set aside for family dining. As Lim explains, “the venue needed to have appeal during the day and night.”
Super Loco serves up an authentic Mexican menu created by Executive Chef Mario Malvaez, who hails from Mexico City, with additional input from celebrity chef Jason Jones, of Mamasita (Melbourne) fame.
