An extension of the Papilio range of chairs, Papilio Shell by B&B Italia consists of various seat bases and covers, promising flexibility.

The plastic shell comes in white, dove grey, black, and can be used as it is, or upholstered in a range of fabrics and leathers. When configured in tubular legs, the chair is stackable. Alternatively, an aluminium star base allows the addition of castors.

Papilio Shell is available in the third quarter of 2015.

2. Carl Hansen & Son

The chair from 1955, revived by Carl Hansen & Son last year, now consists of a new range of frame colours celebrating the late Hans J. Wegner’s original experimentation. Stackable with multiple colour options, a new Smoked Chrome frame was introduced.

Next, the CH417 Traytable by Wegner is a multi-functional low table that doubles up as a tray. The solid stainless steel frame is easy to set up, or keep. The reversible table top comes in two variants – white and black laminate surfaces or light and smoked oak veneer surfaces.

The OW149 Sofa & Side table reflects designer Ole Wanscher’s fascination with 18th century English colonial furniture design through delicate and refined lines.

The sofa comes in walnut, cherry, oak and mahogany – lacquered, soap or oil, with fabric or leather cushions. The table matches up in oak and walnut with a veneer top in matching wood.

3. Kartell

Piuma, meaning ‘feather’ in Italian, defines the 2.2kg chair and 2mm thin shell. The chair is available in multiple colours and presents a new option for the outdoors.

This vision took Kartell and Piero Lissoni two years of intensive research to materialize through a precise blend of thermoplastic polymer, compounded with multiple fibres, such as carbon to ensure rigidity and lightness at the same time.

Battery designed by Ferruccio Laviani is a compact lamp shade with a faceted surface that creates lighting patterns, subtly reminiscent of a kaleidoscope. Rechargeable via a USB cable, the lamp lasts up to six hours.

Availability of Piuma and Battery to be advised.

Following the success of the Mad Chair presented in 2013 by Poliform, the Mad collection expands with new additions such as high and low armchairs, lounges and tables. The family is characterised by large and soft dimensions, with slender oak legs that lightens its body.

Mad Queen is available in the third quarter of 2015.
