Fabrics can create strong visual textures to complement or imbue a strong aesthetic language in interiors. The following five new collections, designed by Tricia Guild, founder of UK-based fabric company Designers Guild were recently launched.
Cassano
Ideal for the creation of elegant curtains, the Cassano fabrics are lightly translucent – they do not block out natural light completely. The collection plays on two variations – a subtle ombré shaded stripe and a herringbone weave. The green or turquoise gradient drapes in particular impart spaces with a dreamy glow.
The Cassano fabrics are manufactured in wide widths for generous applications. They are also treated to be flame retardant. For ease of maintenance, the range is fully washable.

Marquisette
The Marquisette Wallpaper Collection gives the illusion of a larger space with elegant ribbon-like swirls. The bold pattern is visually balanced with muted colours. The heavyweight, non-woven wallpaper is easy to apply and available in six colours. It can also be used as a cushion fabric.
Colonnade
A versatile range of velvets and tweeds, the Colonnade collection expresses a modern interpretation of the classic checkered design. The jacquard woven fabrics were created with a soft velvet pile that were over dyed to enable its subtle ombré effect across three colour combinations. Due to its high abrasion resistance and luscious look and feel, Colonnade is ideal for upholstery, bedcovers and cushions.
Cushion Fabrics from Couture Rose, Marquisette, Colonnade Collection by Designers Guild
Couture Rose
The feminine Couture Rose collection features large-scale floral designs on soft linen fabrics. The generous prints of roses, lilies, orchids, irises and poppies draw from nature in spring and classic botanical paintings. Strong colours ensure that the fabrics are statement pieces, be it for curtains, blinds, cushions, bedcovers or upholstery.
Cushion Fabrics from Greycloth and Marquisette Collection by Designers Guild
Greycloth
Ideal for monochrome lovers, the extensive Greycloth line features a compilation of favoured designs in multiple shades of grey. This includes velvets, jacquards and plain weaves. True to the nature of its hero colour, these fabrics are highly versatile. When mixed and match, they create a sense of material richness.
