In Favour of Craft, Quality and Longevity

Brought in by Grafunkt, the new Conde House at Millenia Walk now offers visitors a great new destination to see and experience fine Japanese furniture.

In Favour of Craft, Quality and Longevity

The work of furniture maker Conde House is driven by fine Japanese aesthetics and the values of craftsmanship, comfort, and timelessness. The company, which was established more than 50 years ago, is led by its mission “to make furniture that lasts, furniture you will never stop loving.”

Every piece of furniture produced by Conde House is mindfully crafted in its factory in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, where it is surrounded by the natural landscapes of northern Japan. With a longstanding respect and care for nature, the factory uses each tree to its fullest, allocating the right part of the tree to the right part of the furniture. This helps to ensure that every piece of furniture can last longer.

Formerly at Park Mall, Conde House has now moved to a new and larger 150-square-metre showroom in Millenia Walk. Customers can visit the store to experience Conde House’s well-crafted furniture up-close. They can discover the Kamuy series by Naoto Fukasawa; Hakama by MHK; and Wing Lux by Kiyoshi Sadogawa, amongst others, all of which are informed by material, structure, design and maintainability.

A case in point, the Wing Lux family, which comprises sofas, ottomans, armchairs, side chairs, stools, benches, tables, and cases, is characterised by tapered legs, leather upholstery and subtle curves that will fit seamlessly into every home. It is one of Conde House’s most popular collection by Sadogawa, who also conceived Conde House’s Twist series.

Apart from Japanese designers, the Japanese furniture maker also collaborates with international names. Its latest dining set, Ten by Berlin-based designer Michael Schneider takes Japanese artisanal craft up a notch. Inspired by aeronautical engineering, the collection is composed of sturdy structures with light and airy skin. Thin and slightly flexible resin is painstakingly mounted on solid wooden frames, giving the furniture a soft sheen. The collection allows for various customising possibilities through combinations of wood colours and upholstery materials. Launched this year, Ten is available for viewing and purchasing at the new store.
