If you thought that all surfaces were made equal, think again. Different types of surfaces vary in quality, which could affect their durability and longevity. But with a material like Silestone® – different from quartz and solid surface – no chances are taken when it comes to the quality of its surfaces. This is exactly why it has managed to remain as one of the top surface brands around for the past 15 years.

94 per cent of Silestone® is natural quartz, which is one of the most resistant natural materials around. This means that it can be used in myriad ways – as a beautiful kitchen worktop, as a hard but elegant vanity counter in the bathroom and even as a hardwearing tabletop in a restaurant. It is so durable that it can even be used as floor and wall tiles.

The reason why Silestone® is so versatile is largely due to the benefits it offers as a surfacing material. The most pertinent of which is the antibacterial protection is provides. It is the first and only quartz surfacing material in the world with patented Microban antibacterial protection that cannot be removed or eliminated during the lifetime of the product. This proves especially useful for projects where high levels of hygiene are necessary.

Second, but no less important is Silestone’s resistance to staining. It has an extremely low porosity with a water absorption level averaging at 0.15 per cent, making it highly resistant to staining caused by coffee, wine, lemon juice, vinegar and even make-up. Coincidentally, it is also resistant to scratches because of the 94 per cent quartz component used. In fact, Silestone® ranks 7th in the MOHS scale of hardness (diamond is ranked 10).

Being shock-resistant, Silestone® is also able to withstand sudden applications of heat better than its counterparts like pure quartz and solid surface because of the mix of quartz (for hardness), polyester resin (for elasticity) and a vibrocompression system used during the production process.

Silestone® also provides width for creativity given the range of over 50 colours it is available in. Apart from the colour variety, it also provides unmatched shade and tone consistency. The surface is available in standard tile sizes and slab formats (304 x 138cm), and can even be produced on a bespoke basis to suit even the most complicated of designs.
