Indesign: The Event has grown to become the favourite commercial design event of the Singapore and regional design community since the first edition arrived here from Australia in 2011. And it all boils down to a few fundamentals: the event’s thoughtfully curated, and designed to be immersive and experiential; there are a host of new products to see; exhibitors get to present their offering in their very own space, in a way that best represent their culture and brand; and everyone gets to meet new industry friends, and generally enjoy a great day out in design.
But really, who better to hear it from than the exhibitors who have participated in previous years? As we gear up for the third edition of Singapore Indesign, happening on 4 October 2014, here’s what some of them have to say:

“The event provides an avenue to channel our creativity and resources into putting up exciting and design-centric exhibitions within our showrooms to highlight key brands such as Herman Miller, Kusch+Co, Magis, DEDON, Tom Dixon, Andreu World and Boffi. As a retailer, it’s an opportunity to share the passions we have for these brands with the design community and the public.”
– Lim Choon Hong, Managing Director of XTRA
Kokuyo’s Airgrace Chair makes its debut (2012)
“Through exhibiting at the event this year (2012), Kokuyo has expanded its network and created a widened awareness in the industry. The event also gave us a platform to showcase our products, brand and capabilities in the furniture industry.
– Kelvin Wu, marketing, Kokuyo
Herman Miller’s “Then X Ten” exhibition at the XTRA showroom venue in Park Mall
“We and our dealers have been active participants in Indesign events for many years.”
– Jeremy Hocking, Vice President of Herman Miller, Asia Pacific
Local graffiti artist ‘Slac’ performs a live graffiti showcase on Smeg retro fridges at APS Lifestyle Marketing (2012)
It was a good event and we received a lot of positive feedback. It was generally very well organised, exciting and very engaging.”
– APS Lifestyle Marketing, marketing, David Tan
Others from the design community also share their views:
Thinking Ergonomix at Red Dot Design Museum, Curated Space (2012)
“Red Dot Design Award and Saturday in Design [renamed Indesign: The Event] are both important platforms to promote good design. Each brings with it an invaluable international network and perspective to Singapore, which can only broaden the scope of understanding on the power of design in Singapore and fuel the enthusiasm and growing interest in the country.”
– Ken Koo, President of Red Dot Asia
The Project installation by Dean Chew of FUUR Associates (2012)
“The event creates an amazing opportunity to network with fellow designers and architects. The suppliers and product brands also really do take extra effort to try and reach out to us designers and architects on a more technical and ‘insider’ level, which I find rather useful.”
– Jasper Chia, Director of FUUR Associates
