Resilience in the Workplace

Can ergonomic design be a game changer in your place of work? Industry thought leaders lead the discussion in a forum entitled ‘Resilient X Workplace’.

Resilience in the Workplace

With employees under increasing pressure to do more in less time and space, and ever changing job demands and technologies, it’s not surprising to find individuals facing both physical and psychological stress at work.

Organised recently by Schiavello and Humanscale, the ‘Resilient X Workplace’ discussion forum delved into the many ways in which the workplace environment can be ergonomically designed to promote resilience and foster health.

The event was held at the National Design Centre in Singapore and brought together leading minds from a range of disciplines: ergonomic design, workplace strategy, workplace health, interior design and interior architecture.

The programme began with a presentation by Cornell University’s Professor Alan Hedge, who is recognised as one of the foremost experts in workplace ergonomics in the US. Hedge provided insight from his own research, and from his vast experience working with some of the world’s leading organisations.

This was followed by a panel discussion where Hedge was joined by Keti Malkoski, Workplace Research Psychologist at Schiavello; Yogesh Tadwalkar, Managing Director of Synergo Consulting; and Catherine McAllister Franzi, Group Regional Account Director of Corporate Solutions at Jones Lang LaSalle.

The evening rounded off with a lively audience Q&A session, while those wanting more personal time with the speakers could catch them over drinks and canapés as the discussion drew to a close.
