The new ‘home’ of Poltrona Frau in Singapore will not only carry the classics we know and love, but the latest collections and a new Atelier range of small objects.
December 6th, 2011
Just a year shy of celebrating its centennial, the house of Poltrona Frau is today a deeply entrenched Italian tradition known worldwide for its icons of design, its focus on discreetly luxurious, elegant leather products, and its history of craftsmanship.
In Singapore, Poltrona Frau’s brand new 4,000sq ft flagship boutique has just opened its doors at the new Scotts Square in Orchard Road. Here, one will find the brand’s historical collection, the recent designs from 2011, and in early 2012, the latest Atelier range of accessories made in leather!
Here are some of the highlights at the new showroom.
From the 2011 collection…
Brooklyn
Brooklyn, by Jean-Marie Massaud
A beautiful combination of leather and steel, Brooklyn is a versatile armchair suitable for both domestic settings and public spaces.
The steel supports with gunmetal grey galvanic treatment combine great visual lightness with extreme sturdiness. In detail, the centre of the cushions feature 2 discreet metal buttons with the same gunmetal grey galvanic treatment that recall the steel supports.
Fred and Ginger
Fred and Ginger, by Roberto Lazzeroni
With Fred, Roberto Lazzeroni offers his own take on desk design, inspired by Poltrona Frau’s leather craftsmanship. The wooden top is covered with Saddle Leather Extra, which gives an impression of fluid continuity. A special process creates a single piece of leather with no seam while a special craft method allows the front to curve without internal supports. Handmade delicate carvings and cold markings create delicate graphic decorations on its surface
The desk is accompanied by Ginger, a comfortable chair with a soft leather shell.
Lelit
Lelit, by Paola Navone
Working with Poltrona Frau for the first time, Paola Navone’s open and eclectic approach results in an unexpected vision of the bed, where the concept of warmth and rest can be freely interpreted by everyone.
The key feature of Lelit is its high, padded headboard, which nestles and protects. This headboard is made up of 2 independent sections, both of which can be freely manoeuvred.
