One Plus Partnership designs a clubhouse sales office to mirror its geography.
April 4th, 2012
Nanshan District in Chongqing, China is in a valley surrounded by mountains and it is this geography that forms the inspiration for a recently built “Mountain and City” sales office.
Young Hong Kong-based interior design firm, One Plus Partnership, has brought the outside inside, capturing the majesty of the natural landscape via grand, abstract shapes.
The slanted feature walls and patterned grey marble flooring form strong triangular shapes reminiscent of mountains; sharp angles and corners have also been created in every conceivable space – extending even to the irregularly shaped reception counters; and the stairs connecting the floors are designed to mimic a passage through a cave.
Meanwhile, LED lightings hanging from the ceiling imitate rain in the valley and soften the hardness of the interior.
The stones are locally sourced from Chongqing and massively applied on the walls and floors to add authenticity to the idea of being close to nature – a feeling that is enhanced by the minimal use of material, colour and decoration.
The idea, says One Plus Partnership, is that when visitors enter, they should feel that they are standing among mountains.
