The 3-dimensional space management system from Steelcase meets the work needs of today.

Manifesto is the product of extensive human-centred research by Steelcase into the evolving needs and work patterns of today’s workforce, including that of the Gen-Y worker.

It was found that new work styles, work-life demands and increasing workplace density were changing the way office systems and storage were being planned and used.

In particular, these observations were made:

Insight 1: Objects trump paper.
Insight 2: People want visual access to their work and personal items.
Insight 3: More important and urgent work stays close by and near the top.

Applying these insights, Manifesto by Steelcase aims to optimise the use of space by thinking in ’3 dimensions’ to overcome contemporary workplace challenges and address the issues at hand.

Manifesto applies the following 5 design principles to make the best possible use of space:

1. Make space below the waterline
2. Use vertical space
3. Make the system modular
4. Make the workspace more personal
5. Promote interaction

As a result, Manifesto is able to facilitate individual and team work in a variety of settings. Some key features that support this include personal portable screens, which offer privacy yet encourage interaction, as well as unique elements that offer personalised storage and privacy.
