The Singapore art scene appears to be off to an invigorating start in the New Year, first with Art Stage Singapore at Marina Bay Sands, and now the launch of The Collectors Show: Chimera and The Singapore Show: Future Proof by the Singapore Art Museum (SAM).

Donna Ng’s Thirty-one Kinds of Wonderful

Chimera offers visitors a rare viewing of 28 artworks by 18 prolific Asian contemporary artists, drawn from important private collections around the world.

The works not only convey the idea of hybridity and illusion in contemporary art, but underscores the sense of the many social and world issues faced today; they seek to challenge visitors to look beyond the surface, reflect and uncover what lies beneath.
