Melbourne-based Hecker Guthrie has designed three sister F&B establishments run by Singaporean company Epicure.

The ground floor of the uncompleted Kerry Hill-designed luxury residential development Martin No. 38 in Singapore is shared by three seemingly disparate F&B establishments: Kha, Graze and Provisions.
The 3 are actually sister companies operated by Epicure, a subsidiary of international firm JIA Holdings.
Kha
Their identities were defined by the thoughtful design work of award-winning Melbourne-based studio Hecker Guthrie, which is headed by the talented Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie. Hecker Guthrie decided to adopt a dual approach – they first started by reviewing the overall architectural landscape and framework of the project, and honed the details from there.
The inspiration for Thai restaurant Kha, which had been relocated from HortPark, was to recreate the comfortable feel of a Thai home. The space showcases a main dining room with a custom ’joinery’ wall that displays Thai antiques and art, and a small candle-lit private dining room that features a giant Buddha, natural fabric screens and parlour palms. The antiques and art were all sourced by the owners and designers, giving an exceptionally personal feel to the space.
Graze
Graze was loosely modelled after the original Graze at Rochester, but according to the designers, the layout for Graze posed a unique challenge. “The space within Graze is one that is very long and narrow, much like a corridor. As such, we divided the space into a series of rooms. This thus gave us the opportunity to create different experience within each space.”
The main dining space in Graze, which is populated with a white-tiled communal table and unique individual stations, features a colour palette of white with punchy accents of blue and grey, and contrasting timber panelling, oak parquetry and concrete. The front facade of Graze is completely outfitted with glass panels that extend to a private dining room titled The Chair Room for its quirky wall display of chairs. Graze boasts a second private dining room with walls lined with handpainted plates, suitably named The Plate Room.
Provisions
Provisions is where customers can go to purchase some of the ingredients, seasoning and produce that they have tasted at Graze or Kha. It is designed to exude the same light and airy feel as Graze, featuring a similar colour palette and actually sharing the same wooden floorboards. Four cobalt-blue SMEG fridges containing food, wine and fruits for sale dominate the main shop space, while a wall display of chairs at its entrance add a cheeky design link back to Graze.
