Interface has recently introduced the Flatweave collection to Asia. Already a highly popular product in Europe, Flatweave is made using a cutting-edge tufting technology unique to Interface, and the result is a product with an alternative texture that fills the gap between hard and soft floors.

Flatweave combines the appearance of a firm floor with the softness and visual texture of a carpet. It not only helps to minimise the acoustic issues often faced in an open plan space, but is comfortable underfoot, and meets the demands for stylish and simplified surfaces.

“To offer traditional hard floor users a softer alternative without compromising on performance, Interface worked for years to perfect micro tufting techniques and develop a uniquely new technology, which is now specific to Flatweave and Interface,” says Robin Hales, Interface’s Vice President of Product Development, Asia Pacific. “The outcome is a flatter, firmer, and more even finish similar to a woven textile – a texture that has never before been introduced as carpet tiles.”

Flatweave tufting technology is known for its outstanding performance, especially in high traffic areas. Similar to other Interface carpet collections, Flatweave has passed stringent testing methods, has the same stain resistance and anti-microbial qualities, and comes with a 15-year warranty.

The product also enables designers to apply creative nesting techniques and develop delineated areas through a mix of patterns and elements. Flatweave falls under three main design groups: ‘Fusion’ uses contrasting colours in combination to create subtle linear patterns; ‘Straightforward’ harnesses ascending patterns that shift the weight of colour from one to the other; and ‘Exponent’ has clear, linear designs and metallic detailing for an elegant woven look of yarn.
