Catch all the action at SiD Melbourne from 17 to 18 August.
August 16th, 2012
The annual Saturday in Design (SiD) celebrates its 10th anniversary with a return to Melbourne on 17 and 18 August.
Unlike traditional trade shows housed in staid exhibition halls, SiD involves premier designer furniture, finishes, fixtures and lighting showrooms opening their doors specially to architects, designers, students and design-savvy members of the public to enjoy in a warm, festive atmosphere.
Expect to see exciting new products unveiled, as well as inspiring, experiential installations set in unique showroom environments as part of The Project.
This year, over 80 companies will showcase more than 300 brands in over 50 locations. They will be divided into three main precincts – Flinders Lane (it’s chock full of things to see and a great place to start your tour), Richmond (a key area for design in the city), and Fitroy/Collingwood (Melbourne’s newest and hippest destination for design).
The Project is also back is force this year with over 20 collaborations; creatives and exhibitors have been invited to dream up innovative ways to “Activate Environments” – create the fourth dimension, bring forms to life, take action and revive, invigorate and awaken.
Expect art installations, activities, a play on the senses, reindeers, fashion, modeling, graffiti and more…
Key design personalities will also be in attendance, and visitors will get a chance to participate in competitions and carry away great prizes.

The Project will also be back with yet more eye-popping creative collaborations between exhibitors and designers following the theme “Hybrid”. Visit saturdayindesign.com.sg and register.
Registration for SiD events is free. To enable hassle-free travel in between showroom venues around the city, a number of complimentary shuttle buses will run on pre-arranged routes throughout the day.
